Basic notions - Function of each hand

The hand on the neck should not grab it, it should support the thumb in the middle part the neck to serve as support when the fingers treads the strings. The hand that strum the strings should not be supported, it must be completely free to pick the desired strings.

If you want to sound strong, should pluck the strings near the bridge. If you pick over his mouth the sound will be smoother and more even if picking over of the bottom of neck.

Diapason

Usually the left hand treads the strings, and make positions for chords. The fingers should tread strings with the bud, and is necessary bend a little hand. Are used the fingers the index, the more, ring and little, and indicated in the diagrams with the numbers 1, 2, 3 and 4 respectively, circled.

The right hand is usually plucks the strings. You use the thumb, index, middle and ring, which is usually indicated by the letters p, i, m, a, derived from the Spanish names for the fingers of the right hand: pulgar (thumb), indice (index), medio (middle), and anular (ring).

Usually the thumb pluck the sixth, fifth and fourth, the third the index finger, the greater finger the second, and the ring finger the first, although not always is so. This way of plucking the strings is used for plucking a bass string for a beat, and the three treble strings are attached at a time with three fingers for marking the chord, e.g. for accompanying the the polka, and can also be used for vals and ranchera.

Anyway, this tutorial will not be used this way of plucking the strings, and only mentioned as illustrative. To the accompaniment will use different "strums", which are easier to execute.
